We read that the fishing at Caples Lake was supposed to be very good (due to the fact that the lake was recently replenished with the entire population of a fish hatchery near Sacramento that had to close due to the drought), so we left the Tahoe basin for a day trip south over the Carson Pass. After a beautiful 45-minute drive through the mountains we reached Caples Lake and made the short hike down to the creek inlet. Lynnae caught her limit of trout in a few hours.

Caples Lake is pretty large and sits at over 8,000 feet |

A beautiful fishing spot |

The wildflowers around the lake were abundant and beautiful. This is an Alpine Lily. |
After fishing, we drove to Wood Lake upstream and found a lovely spot with a campground that we could never fit our trailer into. See if you can find the goose below ;-)
